The Occasional Saints are a New Orleans swing and blues ensemble playing all original tunes. The lineup is piano, bass, drums, guitar trombone, harmonica… and often a guest (occasional) saint. Think Randy Newman , Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, AJ Croce and Van Morrison.. Frank DeBlase of City Newspaper says the music of the Occasional Saints is "a sound of big ease, of Louisiana bump and sparkle with dashes of jazz and pop mirth. It's beautiful; it's sanctified." P. V. Nunes (piano player and chief songwriter for the Saints) says "The Church doesn't want you to be an occasional saint. Its goal is for us to be saint like. An occasional saint is a fallen angel. He’s bad." If The Occasional Saints are bad, how do they sound so good.
