Since 2008, St. Mary's Church has welcomed singers of all ages and abilities to discover together the beautiful tranquility of Gregorian chant. This music is at least fifteen hundred years old, but it resounds anew every week in the lush acoustics of our Gothic building. Our Latin name Schola Gregoriana implies that there are no teachers or students, simply a community of learners who love the unity and deep honesty the chant creates as we sing together the ancient melodies that gave birth to all other Western music. If you can speak, you can chant! There is no audition, no harmony to figure out, no dance moves to learn, no complicated notation to master - just a single, simple melodic line that we all focus on together. We gather every Saturday at 8:45 in the church, starting on August 5, and sing several times a month for the most solemn services at St. Mary's. Chanters and listeners are always welcome, regardless of age, faith, or musical experience. Come and start your weekend right – leave the noise of daily life and spend an hour singing from your soul.
